Recognised to be as beneficial as a conventional classrooms, environmental outdoor education has now become a main focus in many schools. OLA was given the opportunity to improve the existing pond enclosure that had become dilapidated.After surveys site we found that the adjacent copse could be connected creating a significant nature corridor, linking the pond, copse and open space where seating could be introduced.

Bug hotels, full of all sorts of natural materials provide hidey-holes for a variety of insects are located along the copse path within students reach for educational research. The reconditioned pond has a natural appearance with shallow sloping sides for wildlife access with the reuse of existing material to create damp habitats vital for frogs, toads, beetles, bugs and flies. The newly created mounded timber seating offers a breakaway space to discuss the discoveries found in the enhanced environmental Outdoor Learning space.
